According to sources, the reference price for the exports of slabs from Brazil remains since August 21 at $530/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.

Sources linked to the local slab exporters have mentioned that a few deals in the range of $550/mt to $555/mt have recently been closed, although so far it was not possible to confirm.

In August, Brazil exported 465,800 mt and imported 144,300 mt of slabs, against respectively 954,600 mt and 185,400 mt in July.

Both volumes are expected to decline in September.
