According to sources, the reference price for the export of slabs from Brazil is $530/mt, FOB conditions for the basic commercial grades.
This price is stable from last week, remaining in the range of $530-535/mt since August 5.
In October, Brazil exported 413,900 mt and imported 47,000 mt of slabs, against respectively 422,200 mt and 157,800 mt in September.
In October, Ternium exported 180,700 mt of slabs at $634/mt to the US, and 43,300 mt at $626/mt to Mexico, ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 60,700 mt at $536/mt to Argentina, 45,200 mt at $565/mt to the US and 39,600 mt at $545/mt to Canada, while Gerdau exported from its Ouro Branco plant 28,900 mt at $524/mt to Mexico and 15,500 mt at $643/mt to Canada, all FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) imported 47,000 mt of slabs at $483/mt from Russia, also FOB conditions, to feed its Volta Redonda plant, currently in deficit of hot metal production.
