Despite Romanian flat steel spot traders’ attempts to raise sheet prices in response to the upward trend in major EU flat steel mills’ prices and in general prices, the local Romanian flat steel spot market has been stable this week as trade has failed to improve in tandem with price increases. Meanwhile, Romania’s sole flat steel producer, according to sources, is still absent from the market but may begin producing and offering in the middle of November.
While the sole Romanian flat steel producer has not been offering, Romania’s flat steel spot prices have remained stable week on week, with hot rolled sheet (HRS) prices still at €720-730/mt ex-warehouse and cold rolled sheet (CRS) prices remaining at €820-835/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, in the import segment, HRC offers from Turkey have continued to increase this week, with FOB prices at approximately $600-610/mt and freight costs at around €25/mt, resulting in a price to Romania at around €580-585/mt CFR, up from €560-575/mt CFR in previous weeks. Similar increases have been reported from Ukrainian suppliers, who have raised their HRS and CRS offers by €10/mt to €660-670/mt DAP and €750-760/mt DAP, respectively, from the previous week.
