The reference price for the export of rebars by Brazilian producers is $870/mt, against $840/mt four weeks ago, FOB conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In May, Brazil exported 53,400 mt and imported 18,600 mt of rebars, against respectively 8,000 mt and 10,500 mt of rebars in April
The exports of May were all destined to South American countries, shipped by ArcelorMittal (28,000 mt at $708/mt) and Gerdau (25,400 mt at $630/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Egypt (16,100 mt at $629/mt), Peru (2,300 mt at $660/mt) and Germany (200 mt at $1,830/mt), also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebars are offered by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 5,700/mt ($1,050/mt), against BRL 5,630/mt four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s southeast and south regions.
According to the Brazilian steel institute IABr, rebar imports are expected to increase in volume over the next months, as the product is not subject to limiting quotas and higher import taxes.
