Chinese domestic steel section prices have followed a rebounding trend during the past week.
As for billet, prices of the semi-finished steel product in the Chinese domestic market have showed an upward movement during the past week. In Tangshan, the current price of Q235 150 x 150 mm square billet is at RMB 2,970/mt ($417/mt), the price of 165 x 225 mm rectangular billet stands at RMB 2,990/mt ($420/mt), while the price of 20MnSi billet is at around RMB 3,070/mt ($432/mt). The prices are all ex-mill, including 13 percent VAT.
Chinese steel section prices have showed fluctuations with an upward trend during the past week. Overall trading activity has slightly increased but still been weak. Upstream billet prices and raw material prices have increased which causes steel section prices to mostly follow suit. Demand has slightly improved after sharp decreases in prices last week but still remaining weak due to off season. As for the week ahead, it is believed that steel section prices may fluctuate in a narrow range.
