Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices fall

Over the past week, most Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have decreased their official export prices by $5/mt to $610-630/mt against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segments. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are standing at $610-630/mt FOB, for September-early October shipment. According to sources, a few re-rollers are applying aggressive pricing to generate sales and are even quoting slightly lower than $600/mt FOB.

The SteelOrbis daily Turkish import billet reference price stands at $475-500/mt CFR for now, versus $485-510/mt CFR last week.

Most international buyers are in wait-and-see mode and are exerting pressure for further discounts.
