Ex-Turkey merchant bar prices soften

Over the past week, most Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have cut their official export prices by $10/mt on the lower end to $630-650/mt FOB amid the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment and sluggish international demand. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are standing at $630-650/mt FOB, for late November-December shipments. Sources report a few re-rollers are giving sizeable discounts for serious buyers and are even testing below $620/mt FOB, SteelOrbis has heard.

The SteelOrbis daily Turkish import billet reference price stands at $495-530/mt CFR.

According to sources, demand for parallel flange channel profiles (PFC), also known as British parallel flanged channel profiles, which are mainly used in Britain and areas in Asia of former British influence, is particularly lively in the UK and Ireland. Some Turkish merchant bar re-rollers are targeting these markets for export.
