Over the past month, Bulgarian domestic rebar and wire rod prices have risen by BGN 10/mt (€5/mt) amid the relatively better demand, while merchant bar and beam prices have fallen by BGN 10-50/mt (€5-26/mt) against the backdrop of the sluggish demand for these products. In addition, some market players are trying to introduce a higher rebar price at BGN 1,200-1,220/t (€614-633/mt) CPT.
Due to the relatively higher ex-Turkey longs prices most Bulgarian buyers are attempting to evaluate North African suppliers' longs export prices. North African rebar and wire rod prices are standing at $560-570/t FOB, SteelOrbis has heard. Last month, an Algerian supplier was offering rebar at $540/mt FOB to Bulgaria with freight of around $30-35/mt. The negotiations for the next quota round, starting on January 1, are expected to be on the table by the end of October.
