As of today, October 24, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 200-500/mt ($5-13/mt), as compared to October 21, amid ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,300-26,000/mt or $615-632/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.26.
The workable rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $620-630/mt ex-works, including prices from Icdas A.S., indicating a decrease of $5/mt on the higher end over the same period, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 26,000/mt ($632/mt) ex-works today. In addition, another Iskenderun-based mill and re-roller is also offering rebar at TRY 26,300/mt ($640/mt) ex-works and TRY 26,000/mt ($632/mt) ex-warehouse respectively.
Most mills seem to be focusing on domestic rebar sales due to the silence in the rebar export segment. As a result, a few mills are applying aggressive prices to generate cash and are offering additional small discounts for serious buyers only, SteelOrbis has heard.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
