Despite the absence of end-user demand, which has been worsened this month by summer vacations in Europe, the sole Romanian rebar supplier and local traders have kept their offers stable week on week. However, as the end of the month approaches, many market experts believe that the domestic market will experience some recovery in the following months. In the meantime, since business activities remain low, some traders have decided to offer discounts in order to capture buyers’ attention.
According to reports, Romanian rebar traders have maintained their previous weeks’ offers of €570-590/mt ex-warehouse. In the meantime, some traders have decided to sell more aggressively, at €550-560/mt ex-warehouse, to attract buyers’ interest. Romania’s sole rebar producer has kept its domestic rebar offers at €575-580/mt ex-works.
In the wire rod market, many traders have maintained their pricing at between €580-595/mt ex-warehouse from last week, despite any improvement in demand. However, for serious customers, some traders offer at €570/mt ex-warehouse.
On the other hand, in the import segment, most offers have remained stable this week, with the latest ex-Moldova offers for rebar stable week on week at €590-600/mt CPT. Similarly, Turkey's rebar offers have remained unchanged at €535-550/mt CFR, taking into account the prices of $570-580/mt FOB from Turkish mills, freight costs of $25-30/mt, and the current exchange rate of €1 = $1.11. Meanwhile, according to sources, Egypt has offered rebar and wire rod for €535-540/mt CFR and €540-545/mt CFR respectively, compared to €550-555/mt CFR and €560-565/mt CFR earlier.
