Over the past two weeks, Turkish domestic merchant bar producers have increased their official merchant bar prices by TRY 50-300/mt, with their prices declining by $2-10/mt on US dollar basis, against the backdrop of ongoing currency fluctuations. Moreover, one Iskenderun-based mill is offering its equal angles at TRY 19,750-20,070/mt ($599-609/mt) ex-works.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for July-early August delivery or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 26,650/mt ($808/mt) for delivery to the Karabuk region. The price indicates an increase of TRY 250/mt and a drop of $7/mt on US dollar basis over the same period.
Most buyers are monitoring the import scrap and billet price trends and are postponing their purchases for now.
