As of today, December 2, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have decreased by TRY 100-300/mt ($4-9/mt) against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and weaker import scrap prices, compared to Thursday, November 28. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,600-24,000/mt or $566-576/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.72.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $565-580/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, down by $15-20/mt, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $565-570/mt, down by 5-10/mt over the same period, for cash payment only.
According to sources, the workable rebar price in the Iskenderun region is still at TRY 24,000/mt ($576/mt) ex-works. In addition, it is rumored that a few re-rollers in this region will start maintenance works in the short term.
The general sentiment on the demand side is negative amid weaker import scrap and billet prices.
