Turkish domestic rebar spot prices exceed $600/mt

Today, September 30, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 200-700/mt ($4-16/mt) amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and relatively better demand from post-earthquake construction projects in the Iskenderun region, as compared to Thursday, September 26. In addition, there are rumors that natural gas prices may increase as of October 1. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 24,900-26,000/mt or $607-634/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.14.

The workable rebar prices in the Izmir and Marmara regions vary at $600-620/mt , rising by $5/mt on the higher end over the same period, including prices from Icdas A.S., for serious buyers and cash payment only. 

One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 26,100/mt ($636/mt) ex-works today. Another mill in this region is offering rebar at TRY 26,000/mt ($634/mt) ex-works, while a few re-rollers in the same region are also testing TRY 26,000/mt ($634/mt) ex-warehouse, SteelOrbis has heard.

One Samsun-based mill issued its rebar price at $25.900/mt ($631/mt) ex-works earlier today. In addition, the same mill has increased its rebar price by TRY 300/mt ($8/mt) to TRY 26,200/mt ($639/mt) ex-works in the afternoon today. Also, the producer has updated its conversion cost for 10 mm and 8 mm to TRY 1,200/mt and TRY 1,500/mt respectively.

The conversion cost for 10 mm and 8 mm has been revised to TRY 900-1200/mt for 10 mm and TRY 1,100-1,400/mt in the Izmir region, while one Marmara-based mill has set its conversion costs at TRY 2,000/mt both for 10 mm and 8 mm. In addition, the same Marmara mill has set its conversion costs at TRY 1,500/mt for special lengths, 36 mm and 40 mm, and for B500B and B500C grades.
