As of today, November 28, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 400-500/mt ($10-12/mt) amid ongoing currency fluctuations and weaker import scrap prices, compared to Monday, November 25. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,800-24,100/mt or $573-580/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.62.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $580-600/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, stable since the beginning of this week, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $570-580/mt, down by average $7,5/mt over the same period, for cash payment only.
According to sources the workable rebar price in the Iskenderun region is available at TRY 24,000/mt ($578/mt) ex-works.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode and are in no rush to conclude new purchases due to the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment.
