Today, September 9, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices in the Karabuk region have risen by TRY 100/mt following Kardemir's rebar sales closure last week, while falling by TRY 100/mt in the Marmara region due to relatively slow trading activity, as compared to Thursday, September 5. Rebar spot prices have remained stable in the rest of the country. All rebar prices indicate minor changes on US dollar basis. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,600-24,500/mt or $578-600/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.05.
The workable rebar prices in the Izmir and Marmara regions vary at $580-595/mt ex-works, stable week on week, including prices from Icdas A.S., for serious buyers and cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,150/mt ($591/mt) ex-works today. Another Iskenderun-based mill is offering rebar at TRY 24,500/mt ($600/mt) ex-works. In addition, a few re-rollers in this region are testing TRY 24,500-24,700/mt ($600-605/mt) ex-warehouse depending on the size, SteelOrbis has heard.
The general sentiment on the demand side is still negative.
