As of today, December 16, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($1-3/mt) in the Marmara and Karabuk regions in order to offset currency fluctuations, while falling by TRY 100-200/mt ($4-6/mt) in the rest of the country amid the aggressive pricing aimed at generating sales ahead of the New Year holiday, as compared to Thursday, December 12. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,700-24,400/mt or $565-581/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.97.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $565-585/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S’s prices, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $565-580/mt ex-works, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,700/mt ($589/mt) ex-works today. According to sources, the workable rebar price in this region is close to TRY 24,000/mt ($572/mt) ex-warehouse.
Most local buyers are not rushing to restock material as the year-end approaches due to risk of having to make additional VAT payments.
