As of today, October 21, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have mostly remained stable in the local currency with just minor changes on US dollar basis, while only falling by TRY 200/mt ($7/mt) in the Iskenderun region, as compared to October 17, amid ongoing currency fluctuations and the negative sentiment in the import scrap segment. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 25,600-26,500/mt or $623-645/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.24.
The workable rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions vary at $620-635/mt ex-works, including prices from Icdas A.S., indicating a decrease of $5/mt week on week, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 26,500/mt ($645/mt) ex-works today.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode and are monitoring the import scrap price trend.
