Today, September 2, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have risen by TRY 100-200/mt ($1-4/mt) amid ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to Thursday, August 22. One Marmara-based mill started its maintenance works on August 30, contributing to limited supply and a slight upward price movement in the mills' rebar prices in this region. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,500-24,400/mt or $576-598/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.00.
The workable rebar prices in the Izmir and Marmara regions vary at $575-595/mt ex-works, including prices from Icdas A.S., for serious buyers and cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,000/mt ($588/mt) ex-works today.
Most local buyers are in wait-and-see mode and there are rumors that some tonnages of rebar, some people indicate 10,000 mt, were traded from the Izmir region to the Iskenderun region due to the relatively higher pricing in the Iskenderun region.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
