As of today, December 5, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have fallen by TRY 100-200/mt ($2-5/mt) amid the ongoing currency fluctuations and sluggish demand, compared to Monday, December 2. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,500-23,800/mt or $564-571/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 34.73.
The official rebar prices in the Marmara and Izmir regions still vary at $565-580/mt ex-works, including Icdas A.S.’s prices, while the workable rebar prices in these regions vary at $565-570/mt ex-works, stable over the same period, for cash payment only.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,200/mt ($581/mt) ex-works today. According to sources, the workable rebar price in the Iskenderun region is at around $570/mt ex-works.
"Accessing cash liquidity due to high bank interest rates is the main obstacle, together with the adverse weather conditions, leading to sluggish demand," one source commented.
