Today, August 12, Turkish domestic rebar spot prices have remained unchanged on Turkish lira basis, while indicating minor changes on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations, as compared to Thursday, August 8. Accordingly, 12 mm rebar spot prices in Turkey have settled at TRY 23,300-24,200/mt or $579-601/mt ex-warehouse, depending on the region, at an exchange rate of $1 = TRY 33.53.
The workable rebar prices in the Izmir and Marmara regions vary at $580-595/mt ex-works, including prices from Icdas A.S., for serious buyers and cash payment only. The price range indicates a drop of $5/mt on the higher end due to the relatively negative sentiment in the import scrap segment.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its rebar price at TRY 24,150/mt ($600/mt) ex-works today. Additional discounts are available only for serious buyers.
Most local buyers are taking their time before concluding new purchases and are monitoring the import scrap and billet price trends.
As of today, rebar offers in the Turkish spot market are as follows:
