Over the past week, official wire rod prices in Turkey have increased by $10/mt in the Izmir and Iskenderun regions against the backdrop of the ongoing currency fluctuations and the positive sentiment in the import billet segment. In addition, wire rod prices in the rest of the country have remained stable.
According to sources, the workable wire rod prices in Turkey have been at around $625-640/mt ex-works, depending on the region, in the past week.
One Iskenderun-based mill has issued its wire rod price at $640/mt ex-works today, October 15. Most local buyers are monitoring the import scrap price trend and are maintaining a wait-and-see stance ahead of the Turkish Central Bank's interest rate decision due on Thursday, October 17.
