Chinese domestic manganese ore prices have continued to soften slightly during the past week. The mainstream quotations of Australian lump ore with 46 percent Mn content currently stand at $9.61/dmtu (RMB 68.5/dmtu) at China’s Tianjin port, while offers of lump ore of 48 percent Mn content are at $9.68/mtu (RMB 69/dmtu). Also at Tianjin port, quotations for 44 percent grade Mn ore from Gabon are at $9.40/dmtu (RMB 67/dmtu), while offers of South African lump ore of 38 percent Mn content are at $6.31/dmtu (RMB 45/dmtu).

Overall trading activity in the local Chinese manganese ore market has remained weak due to the off-season and rainy weather, with the weakness of demand causing most traders to cut their manganese ore prices slightly. Foreign manganese ore producers’ quoted prices have not been released yet. As for the week ahead, it is believed that manganese ore prices may just indicate minor fluctuations.
