The leading Japanese EAF steel producer Tokyo Steel has announced an overall decrease of JPY 500/mt in scrap purchase prices at all of its plants.
After the announcement, Tokyo Steel’s general range for H2 grade scrap has decreased to JPY 49,500-52,000/mt ($311-327/mt) depending on the mill. While the lower end has been decreased by $1/mt in this revision, the upper end remains stable.
Shindachi scrap prices of Tokyo Steel have also moved down by JPY 500/mt, to JPY 50,500-53,500/mt ($317-336/mt). As a result, the dollar-based price has declined by $1/mt. The prices are delivered and effective as of July 13.
