The leading Japanese EAF steel producer Tokyo Steel has announced a JPY 500/mt cut in scrap purchase prices for its Kyushu facility today, July 19, effective as of tomorrow.

Despite the announcement, Tokyo Steel’s general range for H2 grade scrap has remained in the range of JPY 49,500-52,000/mt ($314-330/mt) depending on the mill. Due to the appreciation of the Japanese yen over the past week, the dollar-based prices have increased by $3/mt in this revision.

Shindachi scrap prices of Tokyo Steel have also remained unchanged at JPY 50,500-53,500/mt ($320-339/mt). As a result, the dollar-based prices moved up by $3/mt. All prices are delivered.
