Turkey’s ship scrap market declines further

Today, August 16, Turkey’s ship scrap market has continued to move down. Two Turkish mills in the Izmir region have reduced their ship scrap procurement prices by $5-10/mt as compared to yesterday. The general price range for ship scrap stands at $370-380/mt, with the lower end decreasing by $5/mt from the previous range of $375-380/mt. As SteelOrbis mentioned in its previous report, Turkish mills are exerting significant pressure on scrap prices. Today, import scrap prices have fallen again, negatively impacting the ship scrap market.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
