Turkey’s ship scrap market drops sharply

Following the softening observed in the deep sea scrap segment, Turkey’s ship scrap procurement prices have also dropped. The general price range has declined by $5-15/mt to $350-355/mt as of today, November 27. If the soft trend in deep sea and short sea scrap prices continues, the upper end of ship scrap prices is not expected to hold.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
