Turkish mills’ domestic scrap purchase prices stable on lira basis

Friday, 09 August 2024 17:33:26 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Turkey’s domestic scrap market has remained stable in terms of Turkish lira-based prices. However, the Turkish lira has lost strength against the US dollar and so dollar-based prices have moved down. While Turkish mills are still showing eagerness to buy domestic scrap, import scrap prices have recorded a sharp decline this week. In this situation, a revision of prices in the local scrap market may be seen in the coming days.

The general range in the local Turkish scrap market for the benchmark DKP grade scrap is still at TRY 11,800-13,150/mt in the local currency. Dollar-based prices have moved down to $352-392/mt week on week.
