The automotive production (cars, trucks and buses) in Brazil has reached 190,100 units in December against 236,100 units in November, according to the sector association, Anfavea.
On a comparative basis, domestic sales increased by 1.6 percent to 257,400 units and exports declined by 20.3 percent to 31,400 units.
When compared to December 2023, production in December 2024 increased by 10.8 percent, domestic sales increased by 3.6 percent, and exports increased by 22.1 percent.
For the total of 2024, production increased from 2023 by 9.7 percent to 2.549 million units, domestic sales increased by 14.1 percent to 2.634 million units, and exports declined by 1.3 percent to 398,500 units.
According to Anfavea president, Márcio de Lima Leite, the most important fact for the Brazilian auto industry in 2024 was the combined sales of new and used cars, 14.2 million units, the highest historical figure for the country.
In his view, there is a pent-up demand for individual transportation, which is being increasingly met by better credit conditions, and if such conditions are improved, more people will be able to opt for the acquisition of new cars.
For 2025, expectations by Anfavea indicates production increasing from 2024 by 7.8 percent to 2.749 million units, domestic sales increasing by 6.3 percent to 2.802 million units, and exports increasing by 7.4 percent to 428,000 units.
