The automotive production (cars, trucks and buses) in Brazil has reached 259,600 units in August against 246,700 units in July, according to the sector association Anfavea.
Under a comparative basis, domestic sales declined by 1.6 percent to 237,400 units and exports declined by 2.2 percent to 38,200 units.
When compared to August 2023, the production in August 2024 increased by 14.4 percent, domestic sales increased by 14.3 percent, and exports increased by 10.6 percent.
For the January-August period of 2024, the production increased from the same period in 2023 by 6.6 percent to 1.644 million units, domestic sales increased by 13.3 percent to 1.623 million units, and exports declined by 17.9 percent to 242,600 units.
ANFAVEA president, Marcos de Lima Leite, said that the high pace of production in July continued through August, reaching the highest monthly volume since October 2019.
He added that the plants are increasing production not only in response to the domestic demand, but also due to the launching of new models.
Lima Leite mentioned that for the total of 2024, expectations are maintained for the production increasing from 2023 by 4.9 percent to 2.440 million units, domestic sales increasing by 10.9 percent to 2.560 million units, and exports declining by 20.8 percent to 320,000 units.
