The level of activities and employment in the Brazilian civil construction sector declined in December 2022 for the third consecutive month, while the number of employees in the sector declined for the second consecutive month, according to the industry association CNI.
CNI added that such declines are cyclical for November and December, after five months of positive results, and were actually lower than expected for the period.
In December 2022, the utilization rate of the installed capacity of the sector declined from the previous month to 65 percent, a level considered as high in historical terms.
The expectations of the sector entrepreneurs remain pessimist, quoting as main problems for the activity the high interest rates, high taxes, the shortage of qualified workers and the high prices of raw materials.
The research was developed between January 1-13, involving representatives of 381 companies.
