China’s steel sheet/plate exports up 25.2% in 2024, stable in Dec from Nov

China’s steel sheet/plate exports totaled 74.66 million mt in 2024, up 25.2 percent year on year, according to the Chinese customs authorities.

In December last year, China exported 6.0 million mt of steel sheet/plate, up 13.9 percent year on year, while remaining stable month on month.

In December, China’s HRC export prices moved on an overall downtrend, with the highest price level during the month at $498/mt FOB on average from large mills seen during December 3-12, and with the lowest level at $478/mt FOB observed on December 27-30, according to SteelOrbis’ data.
