In November last year, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet shipments were down by 14.7 percent compared to the previous month and by 0.6 percent from 599,896 mt recorded in the same month of 2023, amounting to 596,017 metric tons, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. In the given month, 72.4 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 27.6 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled plate and sheet production amounted to 569,437 mt, decreasing by 15.8 percent month on month and by 2.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in November Japan’s hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 1.36 million mt, moving up by 15.7 percent from the previous month and by 3.0 percent year on year. 18.7 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 81.3 percent were made to the export markets. In the given month, Japan’s hot rolled strip production amounted to 1.33 million mt, up by 14.6 percent month on month and down by 0.4 percent year on year.
