Exports of heavy plates from Brazil increase in December

Brazil exported 6,000 mt of heavy plates in December against 4,500 mt November.

In December, Usiminas shipped 5,000 mt of heavy plates, on average at $957/mt, and Gerdau shipped 900 mt at $787/mt, FOB conditions, while a small volume was shipped by traders, ArcelorMittal and CSN.

The destinations of the exports were South American countries (5,100 mt at $993/mt) and the US (900 mt at $787/mt).

Meanwhile, Brazil imported 300 mt of heavy plates in December against 2,600 mt in November.

The imports in December were from Italy (200 mt at $857/mt) and from China (100 mt at $941/mt).
