French auto industry orders up 2.4% in Q2 over Q1

According to the statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), in June this year France's new industrial orders received, excepting heavy tranport vehicles, decreased 0.7 percent month on month. In May, new industrial orders were down 1.9 percent compared to April. On the other hand, in June export orders decreased by 2.1 percent as compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2012 new industrial orders received in France except heavy tranport vehicles rose by 0.6 percent compared to the first quarter of the year and were up 3.3 percent on year-on-year basis. In the second quarter, new export orders received by French industry were 6.8 percent higher compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

In June, the new orders index for the French domestic metallurgical industry remained unchanged as compared to the previous month, while the new orders index for the manufacture of metal products except machinery decreased by 4.4 percent as compared to May. Meanwhile, France's new orders index for the automobile sector rose by four percent in June this year as compared to the previous month.

In the second quarter, the new orders index for the French domestic metallurgical industry fell by 0.1 percent, while the new orders index for the manufacture of metal products except machinery was down by 1.7 percent, both compared to the previous quarter. France's new orders index for its automobile sector rose by 2.4 percent in the second quarter as compared to the previous quarter.
