Industrial output of China’s steel sector up 4.0 percent in 2024

In 2024, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China recorded a year-on-year rise of 4.0 percent, 0.4 percentage points higher compared to the increase recorded in the January-November period last year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 17.

In December alone, the value-added industrial output of the ferrous metal smelting and rolling sector in China increased by 8.7 percent year on year.

In 2024, China's overall value-added industrial output increased by 6.2 percent year on year. In December alone, the overall value-added industrial output increased by 5.8 percent year on year, while rising by 0.64 percent month on month.    

In 2024, the value-added industrial outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors rose by 3.1 percent and by 6.1 percent year on year, respectively.  

In December, the value-added industrial outputs in the mining and manufacturing sectors increased by 2.4 percent and 7.4 percent year on year, respectively.
