Heavy truck production in Mexico up 2.0 percent in November

Heavy truck production in Mexico increased 2.0 percent year-over-year in November to 18,199 units, breaking the negative trend of the past two months, according to SteelOrbis' analysis of data from the national statistics office Inegi.

Of the 12 heavy truck manufacturers in Mexico, six increased production, four decreased production, and two reported zero production.

Of the total production, 94.5 percent was concentrated in three companies: Freightliner (owned by Germany's Daimler Group) contributed 55.1 percent, International Truck contributed 29.8 percent, and Kenworth contributed 9.6 percent of the total.

In foreign trade, the volume of exports in November decreased 6.0 percent, year-over-year, to 13,268 units. This is the third consecutive annual decline and the eighth drop so far this year.

In the period January-November, 197,597 units were manufactured and 148,802 units were exported, volumes that represented reductions of 3.5 percent and 8.8 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
